A few words from my heart to yours
This week’s episode is a bit different from the usual. This week I’m sharing with you from my heart about what’s going on in my life these days, how it’s affecting my productivity, and how I’m feeling about it. I hope you find some value in it.

I was catching up on back episodes and wanted to thank-you for being human and real in this podcast. This episode put into words lots of things I feel and ruminate about. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much, June. I’m so grateful to hear today that you found some value in this episode–it was a hard one for me to publish!
Laura
Loved this episode and your transparency. I think we all can give ourselves a little grace when it comes to doing all the things, and being honest with each other about being overwhelmed and letting things slide is the first step!
Thank you, Rhonda. I appreciate your encouraging words. I agree honesty is important–but it’s sometimes scary!
Wow. Your honesty brought me to tears this week. My husband and I are relatively new to the productivity space and both of us have found ourselves in leadership positions as physicians in a cash strapped province. My husband is currently working the equivalent of two full time jobs and I work as an emergency physician and chief of our department. We have four children, ages 2-9. I desperately want to follow all the principles I am learning about, but as you say, some days all I have time for is to wake up, shower, make a coffee and get the kids ready for school/myself ready fro work. By the time everyone is asleep I collapse into bed. We have outsourced everything we possibly can, but there are some things that just require Mom or Dad. I always feel like I am failing. I keep reminding myself that this is simply a “season” of life, and some weeks are better than others, but it is actually very refreshing to hear that even the experts struggle sometimes.
Thank you, Jan. I’m grateful to know you found something worthwhile in the episode. I remember so vividly those days when we had several young children at home–and I wasn’t working as a physician at the time! My heart goes out to you. Please let me know how I can help.
One of your best episodes ever! Thank you for the real talk and showing your own areas where you want to improve. Although you have a lot going on, you sound like you are still making decisions on your time purposefully based on your priorities. Are there people in your life – a friend or your husband – that you could delegate more to? Anything that can be offloaded? I tend to not want to let go of a task, thinking I know how I want it and worrying others will think I am weak if I ask for help. I heard from a recent audiobook that asking for help is a sign of maturity, and I have been using that with my teen son and younger sons as well. Hang in there – we are all in this fight together!
Thank you, Elena. I appreciate your support and ideas. I’m always/still working on being better at delegating.
Thank you for this episode. As you say, this isn’t something that is often talked about and yet we all face these challenging seasons. You have shared some useful strategies to manage. My only suggestion would be to pay attention to sleep as I believe you mention sleeping poorly (as we often do during these times). I notice for myself that poor sleep or not enough sleep can make those stressful times even harder. Many thanks for the work you put into the podcast.
Thank you for your kind and encouraging words, Steph. And you’re right–poor sleep doesn’t help when we’re under stress (even good stress!). I appreciate your support and encouragement. Thank you!
Once again, TRULY AMAZING! I, too, am a commercial real estate lawyer, juggling husband, small children, and TWO (2) side hustles. I used to feel bad about not being the one to cook dinner every night. Or attending every single event. OR saying NO to activities I really love. But, no more. Thanks for this episode. Each one is a blessing is comforting, and motivating.
Thank you, Ayrika. I’m grateful to know you found it helpful–and it’s nice to hear from another real estate lawyer!
