Annual goals can feel overwhelming. Weekly plans can feel reactive. But 90 days? That’s a timeframe that allows for meaningful progress — without pretending life won’t change.

Planning a quarter at a time

In this episode of The Productive Woman, we explore how to use quarterly planning as a realistic, flexible, and values-aligned way to move what matters forward.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Why annual goals often lose momentum by March

  • How 90-day planning aligns better with real life

  • The advantages of quarterly thinking:

    • Focus on fewer priorities

    • Healthy urgency without panic

    • Built-in resets four times a year

    • Flexibility when life shifts

  • Why 90-day planning isn’t about doing more — it’s about choosing wisely

  • A simple three-step quarterly planning framework:

    1. Look back before you look forward

    2. Choose 1–3 meaningful priorities

    3. Break them into gentle, realistic milestones

  • How to plan around energy, margin, and real-life unpredictability

  • The importance of connecting your quarterly goals to your values

Key Reminders:

  • You can do almost anything — but not everything — in 90 days.

  • Planning is not about control; it’s about alignment.

  • Leaving space in your quarter is wisdom, not weakness.

  • You are allowed to adjust at any time.

Reflection Questions:

  • What worked well in the last 90 days?

  • What drained me?

  • What would make the next quarter feel meaningful?

  • What season of life am I in right now?

Thank you–I’m glad you found it helpful. Of course, it’s not my original idea! I love finding great ideas and sharing them with the TPW community!

This is a great idea. I’ve struggled to keep up with weekly planning and never seem to get yearly planning accomplished. Ninety day planning will help me stay focused on goals and provide a structured time to reset throughout the year. I’ll be giving it a try!
